Suggest Remedy For Skin Rash On Thighs And Spots On Torso

Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: i have had a skin rash on my left thigh and fungal spots on my torso for approximately 8 months. In December I had a pretty bad nosebleed and since then I've had several more but less serious nose bleeds. I am 61, female. I take levothroxin 88 mcg and metoprolol 25 mg once a day. Any ideas?

Dermatologist dismissed rash as lotion reaction and gave me clobix which helped with the main fungal point but I have several more smaller ones

Third time I'm trying to reply. I don't see how to upload pictures and the reason I mentioned all three items is to see if they might be related. Rash is small, occasionally itches, red pin prickly size. Fungal spots are red, slightly raised, NOT circular like ring worm and bloody nose happens about 3x a month. Using Clobex on fungal, nothing in rash

Brief Answer:
Need for regular antihistamines

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

You are basically suffering from a generalised allergic state leading to development of allergic rashes at various body parts .
You might need to take a regular course of oral antihistamines like Benadryl or loratidine.
Such a skin allergy can occur due to intake of antibiotics or pain killers or due to conditions like cough cold ,urine or abdominal infections or due to intake of some foodstuffs to which you are allergic .
Try to locate the allergens if possible .
Take regular antihistamines,I am sure it will help .

Are you saying the fungal part will also respond to an antihistamine? My very basic first question was do you think all three symptoms are related??

Brief Answer:
Nose problem needs further evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

The rash over the groin ,thigh and trunk seems to be due to some allergic reaction since it responded well to clobix. That is why I have advised you antihistamines for the same . Fungal infections need to managed by application of antifungals like clotrimazole. Steroids like clobix tend to increase fungal infections . In the pictures you have provided,I do not see signs of a fungal infection .
As far as the nose bleed is concerned ,it does not seem to be related to skin allergy . It surely needs to be seen by a physician or nose specialist to find out the exact cause of the same .
