doctor
Answered by Dr. Tayyab Malik (42 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
You may switch to another proton pump inhibitor(PPI)

Detailed Answer:
hi.
thank you for posting query at HCM.

Nexium is PPI that is usually prescribed for treatment for GERD and/or gastritis.
it is well tolerated drug with least side effects.
however, if your not feeling comfortable with it, you may switch to any of following (better to switch after consulting with treating physician):
omeprazole, pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole...

hope to answer your concern.
further queries are welcomed.

wish you good and sound health.

doctor
Answered by Dr. Tayyab Malik (7 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Yes, prevacid is well tolerated

Detailed Answer:
hi.
thanks for getting back to me.

prevacid is relatively a new member in the PPI family , introduced in the recent years.
its well tolerated.

however, as with all PPI, its better to have a check every 6 months on your B12, magnesium and Calcium levels in blood, if using PPI for a very long period of time.

hope to answer your concern.
i would be happy to answer any further questions.
