Is Healthy Pregnancy Possible While Having Hormonal Issues?

default
Posted on Thu, 4 May 2017
Question: I had a miscarriage yesterday and I am heartbroke. It took 5 years to conceive. I was 7.5 weeks pregnant but the baby died at 6 weeks. I am 41 and want to try again when I am emotionally ready. Will it take as long to conceive next time and will a miscarriage happen again. Please help me I am devastated and still in a lot of pain. I have miscarried naturally as this is the route I wanted to take. I have a further scan in 3 weeks to make sure everything is clear. Can I have a healthy pregnancy please? Please dont fill me with negativity I understand miscarriage is higher the older you are but is it possible to have a healthy pregnancy?

In my pregnancy I did have a gestation sac, yolk and embryo seen but never a heartbeat. What type if miscarriage is this called please?

Brief Answer:
You can conceive again normally.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Miscarriage can occur due to various reasons and the most common cause is chromosomal abnormalities. Yours s a missed abortion. Since during miscarriage hormonal derangements occur in the body it can take 3 to 4 cycles for the hormonal levels to be regularized and normal ovulation process to start. It is common to have few irregular cycles.
As you already have conceived successfully I do not think you would have any difficulty in conceiving again and woman have delivered healthy child even after that.
Do not take stress. Just give some time(5 to6 months) as the uterus also needs some time for healing as the body undergoes physical, emotional trauma.
Have a healthy nutritious diet.
Do some form of exercise as it increases blood flow to various organs.
Drink lots of water.
You can practice some relaxation techniques as Yoga, Meditation.
Restrict smoking and alcohol.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
