default
Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: I want to have a baby but my fiance is on lamirical and lithium probably most of his life because of bu polar, split personality and super aggresive And allows him now to think before he does.

I recently will habe to have an ovary removed due to all the huge and comicated cyst i get on my ovaries and had appedectomy confused and taken put because their was a cyst that burst andnto much blood and it looked like appendacitis so they rook it out he said he started boticing emdometreosis. So doesnt thAt mean sooner or later both overies will have to come out evenetually?

Also, im on 150 mg od topamax fof severe migraine and then ice prick headaches so when needed take either or 24 hour in between migranal-naratriptan-rizatripatan so bad they call themmsuicide migranes

Also have b6 and then 40 mg of omperozel twice a day have gurd and acid reflux

Then take klonipin 0.25 in morning and af night 1.50 for severe cptsd and trauama from a car accident that almost killed me last year on the high way passenger 80mph landed in back seat miracle i walked away at all... So i cant get off the meds neither can he is there anything less to take to still get pregnant for him and i to put in a surrogate so it doesnt have major disavilities because i wont be able to carry unfortuantly so if i get the chance and put it in a surrogate just be on different but same meds that would be amazing and if so and what and how long to make that chamge before trying to get pregnant

Brief Answer:
Explained, need more inputs from you

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I have understood your situation and totally empathize with you.
I can see that it is vital for your fiance to take the medications.
However, as long as both of you take the medications, you cannot try for a child, as the medications will affect your unborn baby.
Regarding whether one or both the ovaries need to be removed, I can opine only after I look at the ultrasound scan / imaging report that shows the type and size of the cyst.
BUt in all probability, atleast one ovary will need to be removed I think, the one that contains the mass.
Regarding conception, you need to stop the medications atleast temporarily, and ask your psychiatrist to switch to behaviour therapy / counselling / pregnancy - friendly drugs for a while.
Regarding the surrogacy issue, I do not understand your question, can you be more clear ?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
3 months before intended donation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
I perfectly understand your concern.
You wish to know for how long you would have to be on baby - friendly , safer, alternative medications before proceeding with the donation of the sperm and egg.
You need to abstain from the pregnancy - toxic medicines for atleast 3 months prior to donating the sperm and egg.
And please consult a reputed Fertility Specialist to co ordinate the procedure with the intended surrogate.
Take care.
