Is STD Transmission Possible Despite Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Dec 2014
Question: Hi. I may have been exposed to an std. Protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral on a woman. I have anxiety to start off with. I had all the std tests only after 6 days of exposure. All negative. I know some tests take longer to become accurate but needed some peace of mind. I feel like I have symptoms like burning, tingling itching in my privates after about 4 days or so. It's been 15 days now and still no signs of sores in my mouth or gentals. Been to the dr twice and he told me not to worry but I can't help it. Today I now have 2 red pimple looking scabs on my outer right thigh with a rash that itches around it. Could this be syphillis or herpes or something else. I'm freaking out. How soon after exposure can I transmit std. Same day? Plz help. Thx

Brief Answer:
Same day transmission if std is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Protected intercourse chances of STDs is almost nil.Unprotected Oral sex also has lesser chances of transmission .
If you do not have any lesion in genitals it is good.
Burning itching in genitals can be due to std or dryness or fungal infection.Drink plenty of water and fluids.Clean area with warm water twice daily.
Please send clear photos of the lesion mentioned with symptoms.
Stds can be transmitted as soon as organism is acquired .Some can be acquired in hours or some days.So same day transmission is possible.
You can get back for clarification with clear photos.

If after 6 days of possible exposure and all tests were negative. Does that mean I did not have the infection the same day. Reason: I had unprotected sex the same day with my gf. Prob 5 hrs after. What's the probability that she could be infected if my tests were negative 6 days later? How do I send pics of sores?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to transmit STDs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
I have gone through the test details. As it is negative for almost all tests it is unlikely you have STDs at that period. So unlikely for you to transmit Syphilis, gonorhhea, chlamydia,.We cannot comment on hepatitis, herpes and HIV without the details(type) of test done. But it is unlikely to be transmitted by single intercourse .
You can get back with clear photos and details of test of HIV and herpes for further clarification
Thank you
