How Does Removing Ovaries Affect Hormone Level?

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Dec 2014
Question: I am 52 and have had uterine ablasion for fibroids, I have horrible bloating, gas, diarria and constipation for 2 weeks surrounding my period, think terrible stomach flu (probably due to increased growth of candida) Then am disabled with pain/ fatigue for several days. I also have painful cervical cysts several times a year. I want to take my ovaries out, but have heard they are still useful for testosterone and one other hormone as we age. With how much misery I go through 1/2 the month, is their value that important at my age?

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Yes, ovaries are important for the production of testosterone and estrogen which is important to overcome the postmenopausal symptoms.. But there are many patients who have undergone hystrectomy with ovariotomy and lead a healthy life with diet and exercise..

In my opinion, since you have another 3 more years to attain menopause, you can undergo hystrectomy due to the agony you have to face each month..Depending on the status of ovaries, it can be retained or removed.. If it is removed, you have to include food rich in phytoestrogen in your diet along with calcium supplements..

Hope I have answered your query.. Feel free to ask any doubts..good day..

Does this drug not only atop the period, bur also limit the estogern ans progesteron? Does Zoladex stop your ovaries from producing estrogen and progesteron? I have heard that it is the projesterone that causes the candida overgrowth in my digestive tract. This is really the only symptom that causes me the most agony. I can deal with the pain.
