Question: Where is the sperm during arousal? And will a female orgasm help achieve pregnancy?

Answered by Dr. Chintan Solanki (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
during arousal sperms are on the way from ejaculatory ducts to urethra

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

During arousal sperms (Which are produced by testicles) are on the way from ejaculatory ducts to urethra and in between they mixed with the secretion of prostate and seminal vesicles to form semen. And as soon as arousal completes in males with orgasm they come out with semen.

Female orgasm does not help to achieve pregnancy much. During female orgasm there is contraction of uterus as well as vagina. This contraction may expel semen out of the cervix if not ejaculated deeply. If semen is ejaculated deeply in to cervix during intercourse and female remains in supine position or with foot end raised chances of pregnancy are more.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

That's cool I dont know how yall find all this out. Do you know what causes the sperm to release into the urethra? I'm guessing it doesn't go into the urethra or past the prostate until ejaculation?

Brief Answer:
it is very systemic controlled mechanism

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up.

Sex is not mealy a simple process of increase in blood flow to penis and semen comes out. It involves whole central nervous system (specifically limbic system as well as brain stem, cortex and neurotransmitters) and spinal cord with different hormonal changes(mainly testosterone).
This controlled emotional mechanism leads to contraction of different parts of genitals and sperms release in to urethra.

As arousal becomes more pronounced and leads to orgasm lots of sperms come into urethra by mixing with semen. Even if person does not reach to ejaculation couper's gland secretion may sometime contains viable sperms which comes out for lubrication during arousal before actual intercourse.

Hope this answers your concern.

Take care.

Ohhh. See i was told the pelvic muscles and prostate muscles push it out during orgasm. The prostate techincally surrounds the urethra. So basically there is no telling where the sperm is during arousal?

Brief Answer:
arousal means erection according to you then sperms are on the way

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Prostate muscles contractions help in expulsion of fluid from prostate and seminal vesicles.

Mature sperms are stored in epididymis. When man aroused and penis becomes erect there is beginning of excitation phase of sex and 1 to 5 % sperms release gradually towards urethra through vas deference. As arousal progresses more and more sperms move forward as well as fluid from seminal vesicles and prostate also move out and form semen.

So as per your question during arousal sperms can be in epididymis, vas deference or in urethra depending upon stage of arousal.

Hope you got the answer.

Ohhhh, okay. See basically right before ejaculation sperm should be in urethra. Since it works its way there by muscles. So the longer you have an erection the greater your chances of semen and sperm in the urethra?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Chintan Solanki (14 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
yes longer the erection more sperms and semen in urethra

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Longer the erection more the chances that semen and sperms are in urethra ready for ejaculation. However they are not separated then. Semen contains sperms if arousal has passed excitement phase.
And quantity also depends on last ejaculation and frequency of ejaculation.

That help i just have one last thing for you sorry for my questions. But is it in the spongy urethra? One of the other two parts prior to ejaculation? And can sperm leave the semen? Or does the semen have to start to become water before it can swim out?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Chintan Solanki (8 hours later)
Brief Answer:
sperm cannot leave the semen before ejaculation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Sorry for delayed response.

Before ejaculation semen is there behind spongy urethra.

Sperm cannot leave semen when it is inside penis.

After ejaculation when semen liquification starts sperms leave semen. However if sperms are not in environment like cervix where they can get substances for survival they will die.

Hope your doubts are clear now.
