Do Surgeries For Hernia Or Knee Replacement Affect Liver And Kidney?

default
Posted on Sat, 6 Sep 2014
Question: Yes, and thank you. In 2008 I was in a rollover car accident. I broke most of the bones from my jaw, back, 3 ribs, pelvis and both knees. I have three surgeries remaining. One is to correct the huge abdominal contusion that has turned my entire abdomen into one huge hernia. The other two will replace both knees. They are bone to bone, no cartilage and they both have floating fragments that hit the nerve center and cause me to fall; and/or say really bad words.I am concerned about my liver and my kidneys. Even though they are both okay as per blood tests. I take sixty ml. of oxytosine solution every 24 hour period. Ar my liver and kidneys doomed to fail?

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that there is no reason for your concern as you say that your liver function tests and kidney functions are normal I would say that they are doing well .

Surgery for hernia or knee replacement cannot be done until your liver and kidney functions are fine. So since both of them are fine that your doctors are planing for surgery so nothing to worry , stay calm , nothing will happen to your vital organs.

Take care.
