Can Sticky Discharge From Cervix, Bloating And Sharp Pain Be Signs Of Pregnancy?

Posted on Tue, 18 Feb 2014
Question: I ovulated the 9/10 of the this month. I was intimate on the 10 but I believe I was careful. I take vit-c vaginally (1-2 500mg) before. My period is meant to arrive the 26 usually it's early by 1/2 days. Since I'm a mild bleeder I usually take Yogi brand tea Moon Cycle for the bloating and preparing for my period as well I take it once it starts. However on starting the 18 I was feeling off and by 20th or so I noticed as checked my cervix white creamy sticky no odor discharge. I had not had intimacy since the 10. And yesterday the 26 due date of my period I began having horrible cramps that would last almost a good 20-30 secs every so hour. I checked and found nothing no spotting nothing. Pain continue some were inbareble I had to sit in fetal position and others I could withstand. By the afternoon a wave of pain came back. Went to the restroom saw lite pink coloring washed my hands thoroughly and checked my cervix I found my finger wrapped around what I can only describe as tissue paper. I wiped it of and notice it was tinted with pink blood. Cleaned my hands again and checked again cervix is open and more of the tissue membrane would come out. The pain persists and tissue keeps coming out. Today the 27 sharp pain and when I went to the restroom same discharge only now pink to close to period blood is coming but lite. Same pain at times I can deal with it but others I can't. Back is tender and I'm getting headaches along with it. I'm thinking that I could of been pregnant and what this is could be a miscarriage. It's only maybe a week and half. Am I correct should I got to the doctors or let my body go thru it.

Brief Answer: Hello, I would be happy to help... Detailed Answer: Given that: 1. Vaginal Vitamin C is NOT a good form of birth control 2. You had unprotected intercourse right when you were fertile 3. You are having abnormal bleeding Then definitely, pregnancy is a distinct possibility. Of concern in women with pain who might be pregnant is the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy in your tube). You need to: 1. Schedule a visit with an OB/GYN and have a blood pregnancy HCG level drawn 2. Have them do an exam to rule out a vaginal infection 3. If your pregnancy test is positive, they MUST do an ultrasound, regardless of the HCG level. I hope that this helps and good luck!

Okay, I have always felt or im pretty aware of when i ovulate so I did feel when i ovulated it was in te right i felt i bit of a pain. And my fertilty strips confirmed it. Also days later from being intimate i felt mild-low pain in my abdomin as if i was going to have my period didnt think much of it till days later i notice i was beging bloat and i was tired. Than the other symotoms started to present the creamy white almost lotion at times a hit of pink to off white color. To be sure if i was pregnant since i was drinking that tea for my period i did test myself twice. Four days before 26 ( schedule period) and early morning on the 26 before the pain ever began. Both were negative. The pain is in my lower abdominal it doesnt rediate from the sides, it feels like my period but pain is a bit stronger. It was horrible at around 8am and no there still there but not as horrible and bleeding is almost period like with some small blood clots. At first it. Was pink and now it red as if it was period .

Brief Answer: Thank you for the follow up... Detailed Answer: When you performed the pregnancy tests, it might have been too early to detect a pregnancy. Also, it is concerning that you are describing the pain as "horrible". While this might just represent your period, I still think that it is worth going through the workup that I have described above. This would be the most efficient and accurate way to rule out pregnancy. I hope that this helps and good luck!

Hi well i should say the first day that i wrote when the pain and blood started were the worst. I may exagerated with horrible but they were painful. The worst pain was the day before i started to bleed. I can argue that it was pretty pianful, they came twice in that day three moments in the morning and two at night when i saw the white/pink tissue with pinkish blood. The second day when bleeding started I only had two big painful pains in the morning. The rest were painful but tolorable. Bleeding was at a medium flow, lots of clots more than i would get when on my period. Headaches were gone by the afternoon. Lower back pain was at a minium, they would come along with the contraction and would disappear. I drank lot of hot liquids (teas and broth) so frequent stops to the restroom were in order. Its there were i would feel much better as for some reason several times i would release a lot of clots and i would drain some of the blood. Not a lot that the water turn red but a bit than what i have when on my period. The next day pain was a minium, a few contraction back pain was low. Blood flow was between med-low still clots they colored dark red and stringy lite colored stringy substance (almost like thin thread). Going to the bathroom was less even since i still would take lots of liquids. Pain is on and off, sometimes a little sharp like a 5 (1-10) others were 3/4. My pads did not get soaked with blood on the first day nor yesterday. i changed them every 2hrs and were almost not even half full. Today day 3 im much better, i have a bit of energy, pain is at 2 or i can't even feel it. My apitite has come back, before I wasnt too hungry and some smelsl would throw me off ( that was another weird feeling i never had cause i eat a lot before my period) My stomach or lower abdomin is a bit tender but not hurting or craping. It feels more like I had done 100 situps and its soar. Bleeding is at low/medium instead of the big clots from the other two days now they are smaller. Back pain is no more just a bit tender but doesnt hurt. Dont know what to say, it couldnt have been my period because the symptoms i had before it started i never had them before. I have to point out that before this happening when i was feeling off I wasnt able to go to the bathroom like i always would and im very regular at that, everyday or twice a day. On sunday when I had the constant pain i felt the need to go to the bathroom, the contraction and pain made me go to the bathroom, it gave a bit relief since I was struggling to go days prior and with the pain and muscle contracting it felt better i would say. And monday when the pain and blood started i would go a bit more small amounts of soft/hard bowels but it gave me more relief in my stomach even now im a bit regular ive even noticed my bloating has lessen, i dont feel gassy and i actualy lost 2pounds. My BM is back as it was and im not peeing as much either. I only go to bathroom to check the bleeding and if i had to go. I have one more pregnancy test left dont know if I should test myself once bleeding has stop. All in all im feeling better pain is at the bare minium bleeding is almost at a period like flow still some clots never had side pain or pain on side. My stomach is feeling like it hasnt eaten in hours and the lower abdomin is just a bit tender soar. Should i still make an appointment to see a doctor if im feeling good?

Brief Answer: Sorry about the delay... Detailed Answer: Yes, you should check a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. Do not wait for the bleeding to stop, but try to catch a midstream of urine that is not contaminated with blood. Regardless whether the test is positive or negative, you need to see a doctor. The bleeding and pain (I got a little lost in the details to be honest) is NOT normal. This really deserves an expert (OB/GYN) opinion about what is going on. You were seriously debilitated by what has been going on and for the sake of not unnecessarily going through this again, you should be seen. Again, I am sorry about the delay. I wish you the best of luck!
