I was on Bactrim for two weeks and my doctor told me to stop, because he thought I had non bacterial Prostatitis. I still have symptoms and I get chills off and on. I am very frustrated. I have an appointment tomorrow. Do you suspect infection?
Also, I have a lump of fatty tissue on the right in my mons pubis area, I think it has been there for some time. It is painless, but since I am searching for causes of my symptoms, chills without fever, and tingling in my feet, should I worry this could be Lymphoma? I did have all the imaging exams in late January, and a complete blood exam 2 weeks ago that did show lymphocytes at 800. All other tests were normal.

Brief Answer:
non specific to suspect Lymphoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic!

It's not just by chills or fever that we can differentiate between bacterial and non-bacterial but investigations like mid stream urine exam, culture sensitivity etc needs to be considered.

Moreover, we also need to look for alternative causes of chills if your doctor strongly thinks that it is due to non bacterial.

Chills without fever and tingling are very very non specific to suspect Lymphoma

Hope I have answered your query.

Dr Poola, regarding chills and tingling, my blood work did show a tad below normal for iron. I did purchase some iron supplements. What do you think this fatty tissue represents? As I said, it has been there for a long time.

Brief Answer:
cyst, fatty tumor, infection, hernia etc.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It can be due to several things like cyst, fatty tumor, infection, hernia etc. However, a Physical examination is mandatory to assess this since there are variety of other causes that needs to be ruled out.

Take care.

Dr Poola, I will get it checked out, but I think it is a Lipoma. I did have all the imaging exams that could have identified this mass if it were a tumor, cyst or hernia, I presume. Would you agree?

Brief Answer:
Treatment of lipoma is also not complicated

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If imaging has ruled out the above things, yes we can suspect lipoma but rarely it occurs in this location. Treatment of lipoma is also not a complicated issue. A consult with general surgeon would help.

Take Care!

My Urologist, today has ruled out prostatitis, but did send my urine out for culture. My urine was clean and the only thing he said was my prostate was a little enlarged, common with my age. I still have symptoms but not on a regular basis. My chills continue, off and on. I wonder if my medications, Dexilant, Antivan, Zocor ,Lunesta. Advil, or the many supplements I take, could be the cause?
