Brief Answer:
Yes you can.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

As I noticed you are a man, 58 years old.
One of the chronic complications of Diabetes in men can be infertility issues, especially in those with uncontrolled glucose levels and diagnosed with Diabetes for more than 5 years.

For some retrograde ejaculation, where semen backs up into the bladder, making it impossible to get to the woman’s reproductive organs, becomes a problem, as does erectile dysfunction caused by both the diabetes itself as well as medications which may be used to control it.

Still, there is one, more dangerous reproductive side effect to diabetes in men: DNA damage.

It means that men with Diabetes have GREATER risk of infertility but it doesn't mean that all patients with Diabetes are infertile.

So we recommend to try to maintain normal glucose levels to prevent these chronic complication of Diabetes.

Hope the information will help. Feel free to discuss further.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta

You can take metformine as long as liver and renal function test are within the normal ranges.
