Question: Concerned about Aunt who is on metoprolol tartrate 50mg, simvastatin 40mg, lisinopril 40mg, amlodipine 10mg, and iron 325mg. A recent active, working woman in her late sixties is now sleeping most of the time, no appetite, and showing depression. All the combined and overlapping side effects of all these drugs cause the hairs of my body to stand on end. I work with many patients and see their gradual to fast decline from prescribed drugs and their side effects. We (family) want her off of these XXXXXXX drugs before it is too late, and to go on a program of nutrition, cleansing, and mild exercise program for balance and regeneration.

Brief Answer: Do NOT stop drugs... Detailed Answer: Dear friend, Welcome to Health Care Magic She is 3 different classes of drugs – 2 of them in maximal doses – for blood pressure itself. At this age and with kidney impairment, it is XXXXXXX to stop the drugs… it will only hasten the progression of the disease and worsen the situation…. Drugs should not be stopped or changed or modified except under the expert guidance of the treating physician Nutrition and exercise can go on simultaneously - along with the drugs / and if improved, one can think of reducing the drugs... Investigations like electrolytes /psychological assessment for depression and so on may help The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation. Take care Wishing all well God bless
