I went through your query. Firstly it is very much possible that your infection is not a STD it could be viral infection of throat caused by common viruses such as rhinovirus, Respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus, para influenza virus, etc. The symptoms are self limiting and you just need to rule out group b strep throat infection. For that you can get tested for complete haemogram and throat swab examination for gram staining microscopy and culture sensitivity test for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria along with ASO test. If positive then you will need to take antibiotics.Meanwhile you do not need to take antibiotics as they only lead to resistant bacterial stains and do not help in speedy recovery. You can take nasal decongestant, analgaesics( Tylenol) and antihistamines like cetrizine if required. Do chlorhexidine gargle for one minute 3-4 times a day. I hope this will be only needed. Get your throat and ear examination done from otolaryngologist if symptoms do not improve to rule out bacterial infections which require prescription of antibiotics. Now coming to your fear regarding STD. Yes we cannot completely rule it out. Chlamydia and gonorrhea can be transmitted through vaginal, anal or oral sexual contact.Symptoms of these infections of the throat include redness, swelling of the tonsils, or white spots on the tonsils. If two weeks have passed suspected exposure you can get tested by culture or rapid tests available. If you have infection then it is very rare to transmit the infection to others by kissing as only few investigators have found such infection. Also get tested for hepatitis B, syphilis, and HIV. Repeated testing may be done if desired, 3-4. In future practice barrier methods during intercourse and limit new sexual partners. The antibiotics like azithromycin are treatment of choice for such infection.
