What Is The Reason For Gaining Weight After Being On Depo Provera?
Hello, I have been of the depo provera shot for almost 7 months and was never in my heaviest days over 175lbs. I got on depo and gained 45lbs in 3 years. It is still not coming off, or atleast not very quickly... I don't know what to do to get it to go away. I was always slimer and had a pretty good metabolism....

I recommend monitoring their weight who are on depo, and if they gain a significant amount of weight during the first six months—say, in excess of 7 pounds—I'd recommend going off of it. If you do stop the shot because of weight gain, don't start taking the pill right away. Use a nonhormonal form of birth control for several months until your periods resume on a normal schedule—a sign that your body's progesterone levels have returned to normal.
If weight gain was due to depo shot, Regular exercise and appropriate calories will help to loose weight.
If you still gaining weight need to get evaluated. may need to get test done to rule out hormonal variations.
