Would Discontinuing Thyronorm Cause Any Problems?

I was prescribed Thyronorm 25 mcg 1 tablet daily since my TSH was at 7. Within 10 days of medication my TSH was normal and I underwent abdominal hysterectomy. I continued with thyronorm for a month and half post surgery and rechecked my thyroid profile. T3, T4 & TSH were all found normal. I discontinued thyronorm after gradually decreasing dosage over the last 2 weeks. Is this likely to create any problems?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You had high TSH level and leads to hypothyroidism. You started thyronorm for that. You have gradually withdraw thyronorm. It can leads to hypothyroidism again.

You should check your T3, T4, TSH again after 6 weeks. If your TSH level increase further then you have to take thyronorm again.

If it remains normal then it is on and you can wait with close follow up on your TSH level.

Hope I have answered your question. if you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
