You seem to have androgenetic alopecia. Minoxidil and Finasteride are approved remedies for androgenetic alopecia. While minoxidil is a non-specific hair growth promoter, finasteride is specific for androgenetic alopecia in males. Finasteride is an inhibitor of the enzyme 5 alpha reductase which is present in hair follicle and converts circulating testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone/ DHT. DHT is th main culprit behing hair thinning and hair loss in androgenetic alopecia. Treatment is long term. Results are usually eveident in 6- 8 months and need to be maintained with life long treatment. Response is variable and varies from individual to individual. Therefore, I suggest you to continue with minoxidil and also add finasteride to the treatment regime. Finasteride is a prescription drug and therefore I suggest that you talk to your doctor for the needful.
