Will TSH Level Decrease By Increasing Thyroxine Dose?
Hello, concerning my TSH test results of 20.7 about 2 weeks ago, my doctor told me to up my dose of Thyroxine from 50 MCG to 75 MCG...do you think that is enough to remedy the problem? (my weight is 200 lbs ~age is 49 years ~ which has exploded over the course of the past 2 years)
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM! I have gone carefully through your concern. I would have done the same. The dose raise is correct but you should check the TSH level 6 weeks after the last increase until you find the proper dose, because in most of the cases is individual. Once the TSH level has reached the normal levels, than you may check the TSH once in 6 months. Hypothyroidism may be a cause of weight gain or difficulty in weight loss. Hope i have been helpful.
