Why Is There A Fall In The Blood Sugar Level While On Prednisone Tablet?

Hi
Could you please explain to me why when I take prednisone my blood glucose levels fall? i was under the impression prednisone would interfere with my diabetic medication, metformin and diamicron and raise my blood glucose levels. In the last 3 months I have taken prednisone for allergies and each time my bgl falls to around pre diabetic levels of around 5 - 6 (Australian measurement). Thanks

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
Prednisolone lowering the blood glucose level is very unusual, you must have taken the large dose of anti diabetic, so the blood glucose level comes to normal even after taking the Glucocorticoid, take care, have word with your doctor, bye.
