Why Is The Eye Of A Child Swollen And Back After 4 Days Of Head Injury?
On Sunday my grandson was hit in head my a brick that required 6 staples. A scan done @ that time said no fractures or internal bleeding. Face did swell some on Monday but nothing since except for few complaints about head hurting some. Today, Thursday, after waking from a nap his eye is swollen and appears blue almost like a black eye. Not sure what is happening
Hello It seems from the history that your grandson suffered a injury and the wound was sutured with staples. Now he had got swollen eyelids this indicates collection of blood or fluid in the layers of skin of eyelids. This is common after injuries to head and face above the level of eye brow. Since he had undergone scan and there are no signs of head injury, no need to worry. This will decrease over 3-4 weeks and no specific treatment is required. Application of cold compress will provide early resolution of edema.
Thank you
