Hi, may I answer your heI am a girl and I m 17. My father, aunt, and uncle all had Diabetes. I do not know what type my aunt and uncle had but I know my father had type two. My uncle died from his diabetes, my aunt died of heart failure due to her weight if I remember correctly and my father died recently this past year but my family and I are not sure what from-the funeral home wouldnt tell us anything past natural causes but we believe he had another stroke. My father was 51, and my aunt and uncle were in their 40s. I have never had to wear glasses before this year. I have been diagnosed with astigmatism but I don t know what caused it. I have been getting sick more easily this year. Just these past few weeks I have been sick with so much stuff I cant even remember. Last week I threw up for a few days from what seemed like food poisoning and I was nauseous for the rest of the weekend and this past week I have been having random bouts of subtle abdominal pain. This summer I had a random bout of excrutiating abdominal pain. I dont know why. I did not have to use the bathroom, I had not eaten anything, I was not on my period, and I had not been in a fight or anything yet I could not even move without crying out in pain. I would just be lying still and it would feel as if someone was slowly twisting a dozen knives in my gut. After about 2-3 days it went away and has not happened again. Could any of this put me at risk for having diabetes at all?alth queries right now ? Please type your query here...

Hello! On December 26th of 2016 I arrived at the ER just shy of 8am due to extreme abdominal pain that started around 1pm on Christmas Day. Once I was taken back to my room at the ER and administered morphine and dilauded through my IV (which hardly even touched the pain) the ER physician thought my pain could be due to my appendix. I was then taken back for a CT scan where the results of that testing showed I had a large black mass in my lower pelvic region and they were unable to find my left ovary. The physician then ordered a transvaginal ultrasound as well as an abdominal ultrasound which again showed the same results; large black mass and the inability to detect my left ovary. Due to these tests and my extreme and intolerable pain (so much so I had reached the limit of pain medicine they could administer without going over the lethal limit) the on-call OB/GYN physician was alerted to see me and review the unfortunately, inconclusive results. Once he arrived I explained in detail what and where I was experiencing all of this distress. He ordered a vaginal examination in which he was not comfortable using the speculum due to my pain and the severe swelling/bloating as time had gone on (at this point, my 120 lb, size 2 body looked like I was 3-4 months pregnant). He proceeded to tell me that with history of ovarian cancer in my family, and hemorrhagic cysts in my right ovary from over a year before, he wanted to perform an exploratory laporotomy to see if there was a torsion or something else that was causing this. If there was a need to remove the left ovary, he would have to do so during surgery. I signed the papers agreeing that I knew what needed to take place and the risks involved with said surgery. After I was admitted for a 3-day evaluation and watch in the hospital, I had come to from the anesthesia around 11pm the night of my surgery (which took place at 6pm) and was made aware that they had to remove my left ovary because I had a 12.7 cm dermoid tumor that had taken it over completely and caused bleeding internally, putting pressure on my lungs, stomach, intestines, and so forth. My tubes were left in tact along with my right ovary and uterus as they appeared to be functioning appropriately and would have no further issues. Since January 6th, I have been bleeding consistently everyday, soaking through a minimum of 2 overnight sized pads. My normal menstrual cycle starts on the 8th of every month so I was not shocked when I first started bleeding, however I have no gone through 2 menstrual cycles and I am still bleeding heavily and constantly and will soon be arriving for my 3rd menstrual cycle in just 2 short weeks. My follow up with the surgeon was a short visit that did not consist of a thorough examination or ultrasound and no follow up from there requested from my doctor. I m 23 years old, anemic, have emotional and psychological issues prior to this and the constant bleeding and unwarranted pain I m still having alongside the fatigue and hot flashes associated, are really keeping me from getting any better. Why am I still bleeding this heavy and for this long after my surgery? I can t imagine this would be considered normal. But I need answers and/or advice to put everything at ease. Thank you in advance for anything you can tell me regarding my situation. Kelsi Stevenson

My 17 old daughter has had ongoing lower abdominal pain for approximately 4 years. Her appendix have been removed but was found to be healthy. They thought she had endimetriosis but gynecologist said she didn t. Her pain does not necessarily occur with her periods and is increasingly getting more severe. Pain killers no longer work and she is unable to pick anything up, bend over or walk without crying in pain. Do you have any suggestions please as our doctors seem to be at a loss. Thankyou, Stacey.

I m military and in basic and AIT (both located in GA) I developed a odd sounding chronic cough. I went through numerous tests to include XRAY, Methacholine challenge, GERD, Allergy and others I can t recall. I also have rhinitis which I m told by the allergist is not due to any allergy (I had a full skin test). It mostly subsided when I was stationed in Ft Lewis, WA while I was taking flonase and zyrtec. I ve since been stationed at Hunter AAF, GA and now the cough is back in full force and my rhinitis is no longer controlled by flonase. An allergist back at fort gordon told me it was cough variant asthma( after successfully reducing the symptoms with prednisone and then advair) but the pulmonologist at both fort gordon and fort lewis insist that I don t have asthma. While my symptoms are present I have a shortness of breath during running and similar exercises but to a lesser extent in washington. I had no issues during my deployment to Iraq (my 2 mile run times dropped four minutes with no changes in behavior) I was 18 when in Basic and AIT and now am 22 soon to be 23. Any ideas?

i can't find anyone with my problem...just pieces here and there. I am a 22 year old female. i have a family history of heart disease but my mother and father are fine. I usually have a glass of red wine almost every night and some weekend i go out and drink. I've had an occasional cigarette when drinking but not any time lately. I work in a stressful job but i don't feel like it is taking a toll on me, the only reason i mention it is because i hear chest pain can be stress related. i get a decent amount of exercise and doctors have always told me i am in good health aside from borderline asthma in high school. I also had a few panic attacks mid high school but haven't had any since. for the last two weeks or so i've had bad chest pains in the center of my chest between my breasts. the usual off and on pain through the weeks has felt like my ribs are being pushed or punched inwards and sometimes it makes it hard to breath and i actually start breathing harder. here and there i think i've felt a heart murmer and here and there i feel like someone stabs me in the chest or heart with a knife. its freaking me out and as i type i feel a deep pain i've had for the last 20 minutes. it seems like these pains are getting worse and im in the middle of searching for a new doctor. i dont know if i should wait for something bad to happen to go to the e.r. or if i should just book a doctors appointment and wait out the pain.

my son just reported pain behind ear - not jaw area - currently not running fever, but usually doesn't with ear infections. He is 11 years old, had tubes at the age of 4 for 3 years (1 removed sugically). Has history of ear infections and exercise induced asthma. He has severe allergies (cats, trees, weeds) and takes 2 oral & 2 nasal medications daily before and during allergy season. He is approx 5'5", 155 lbs. Any idea of what is going on - should I contact his doctor?

How do you treat upper respiratory infections. I am 78 years old and have a long history of these episodes. There is no pattern to my URI's - get them once a year or not for several years.
