What Would Diffuse Disc Bulge Causing Anterior Thecal Sac Indentation As Shown On MRI Mean?
hi iam rekha 25yrs,i had boreing pain in my lt limb &sometimes only in my lt foot.I was adviced to take MRI and the report says L3-4&L4-5 diffuse disc bulge causing anterior thecal sac indentation and bilateral neural foramen narrowing, abutting the exiting nerve roots.now wat treatment i shd take
There is degeneration of lumbar spine disc between L 3 - L 4 and L 4 - L 5. This is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level. There is also degenerative changes at levels as mentioned by you. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable.
There are medications given for neurogenic pain and it works in most patients. You may also apply muscle relaxants and pain relief ointments. Surgery is indicated for those in severe pain that is not responding to medications for few months. Laser assisted surgery is available and it is minimally invasive with good results.
