What Treatment Is Suggested For Persistent Abdo/pelvic Pain?

Had persistant abdo/pelvic pain. This pain radiates to my leg. Ive had this pain over 14months. My symptoms are getting worse with nausa and vomitting which is resulting in me lossing weight. I was rushed to hospital 13months ago with a server infection and abdo pain. They did a uss scan and that ruled out appendix. They did a MRI scan which showed fluid in pouch of douglas. Because the infection settled and blood results returned to normal they discharged me after 8days.

Hi,

According to your description the possible causes are:
- Chronic pelvic infection with recurrent acute exacerbations
- Gastrointestinal infections

As you got evaluated 13 months ago, you may need reevaluation. So, please consult your doctor, get examined and for ultrasound and pap smear, vaginal culture and sensitivity. With this workup the possible cause of your problem can be identified.

Measures that can help you are:
- Both the partners should be treated simultaneously according to culture and sensitivity report in case of pelvic infection.
- Antacids and anti emetics along with antibiotics can help in gastric infections.
- If symptoms still persist you may need advanced investigations like endoscopy, laparoscopy etc for diagnostic and therapeutic management.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
