What To Do If Diagnosed With Stage 1 Hypertension And Have Bloody Nose And Bloody Stools?

My boyfriends blood pressure just reached 169 ... I'm not sure what the denominator part at the bottom was. Yesterday he had a bloody nose and some blood in his stool. He has chest pain sometimes and his arms seem to ache and fall asleep painfully a lot. We went to Urgent Care yesterday when his blood pressure was 149/82 and they told us that it was stage 1 of hypertention (or something like that word). What actions should we take? Shoudld we do anything immidiately?

Hi. It is unlikely to have bleeding per nose and bloody stools with the level of BP you posted. Considering other symptoms he has, there can be a problem of a generalized illness , which needs to be investigated by your treating Doctor as per physical examination. You may have to go for blood and urine and stool tests , particularly - bleeding time / clotting time/ prothrombine time , platelet counts and so on.
