What Medication Is Suggested For Scarlet Fever?

my 3yo had adenoidectomy end of December. He now has fever i think sore throat (hands constantly in mouth and drooling lots) and ...a red rash - looking like the skin is very dry and its all over - cheeks, stomach back buttocks. I am thinking it sounds like Scarlet Fever. I just wonder if the surgury has any known corrolation with that infection developing?
