General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your history is suggestive of the following:
- Left sided tonsillitis or peri-tonsillitis that is infection and abscess formation on the inside part of tonsil, also called as Quinsy
- Left ear reduced hearing can be due to fluid build up as the fluid passed through left eustachian tube might have caused this, there can be a referred and local pain too

I would advise you the following:
- Consult your Doctor for preliminary examination and get started on proper antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines
- Povidone iodine gargles
- Plenty of oral fluids if you can swallow with minimal pain
- If not then admission to the hospital for intravenous fluids and antibiotics may be needed
- Complete the course till cured
- Tonsillectomy if quinsy is proved

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
