What Is The Cause Of Cramps And Spotting After Unprotected Sex?

I have clotting in my period. My period was ten days late. Second month in a row ive been late and ive had unprotected sex. I get rare but random sharp pains or cramps. I have no need for.pads as blood only comes out when i wipe. Some times its pink with what looks like a clear clot. What could that be? Ive gotten two negative pregnAncy tests as well.. Could it be pregnAncy or miscarriage?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding can occur due to hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroids or polyps. The cause of irregular periods such as polycystic ovaries, obesity and hypothyroidism should be diagnosed and treated effectively. Pelvic ultrasound, thyroid tests are essential.

Monthly hormonal pills may be required to regularise the bleeding. In the subsequent cycles, the menstrual flow will regularise.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
