What Is The Cause For The Pain In My Ears And Throat While I Exercise?

When I exercise my throat and ears really hurt. It s like a really intense burning sensation with a slight shooting pain. Also I become really phlemy which tastes like blood - no blood is apparent. I don t smoke - haven t for 3 years - I don t drink, healthy diet. But I haven t done any real exercise for 7 years. I m 25. This is the only thing that hampers me whilst exercising. There are no lactic acid or achy muscles that stop me in my tracks , it s just the throat and ear pain that makes me stop HELP PLEEEASE!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, the possible reason for pain in throat and ears while exercising apart from muscular reasons (which you say is not the case) can be sinusitis and Eustachian tube dysfunction. Please use mucolytics along with nasal decongestants and steam inhalation and things should be fine. You can use nasal decongestant drops for few days before exercising. In case the problem does not subside, please consul an ENT and an Xray PNS may be required to assess the sinuses. Regards
