What Is The Cause For Long Periods?

Hello Dr,

Are you familiar with Alesse birth control?
If so, I just finished the 28 pack, however I have had my period for 2 weeks now. I missed two days of the pills and accidentially took the no estrogen pills. I followed the instructions if you miss two pills and got back on track. However, the period never went away. I don't feel myself and I'm always tired.
What do I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Persistent bleeding can be the side effect of birth control pills. Make sure you take the pills as scheduled every day. It is also best to get a complete blood profile done to rule out anemia since you have been feeling tired.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
