Hi,

Althea contraceptive pill is a combined hormone pill containing estrogen and progestin. It is always preferred, that you take the first tablet on the first day of periods, so that your period cycle is not disturbed. However, you can start it on any day of periods & continue to take 1 tablet daily for 21 days and then a break of 7 days, before starting next pack of tablets.

It will affect, the same way, even if you started after your period. However, after, first time use, the pills may take a few days to be effective. Therefore, it is advised to avoid the sex or use an alternative method simultaneously along with the pills, for first 5-7 days of starting the pills. As you had sex after 7 days of starting the pills, therefore, I think, the tablets will be equally effective and will act normally as contraceptive.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
