Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is Causing Low Blood Pressure With Weakness And Dizziness?
I am a recovering alcoholic and have been sober for two weeks and two days. I am getting help, but in the meantime I have had some kind of upper respiratory infection for almost two weeks. My blood pressure is 92 over 49 and I feel weak, dizzy, and have hard time concentrating. I am more of an binge drinker so I have been in general good health and have always been athletic, now I cannot even do a simple leg lift without feeling nauseous. I s this just still detox on top of an infection and cold for which I have been taking antibiotics?
I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.
Your symptoms are related to Post-acute-withdrawal syndrome and respiratory infection. Respiratory infections are manifested with anemia so this is the reason why the blood pressure was low.
Alcohol can cause injury to the liver, and when the liver is injured dizziness and weakness are shown up. So you need a liver function test to check liver condition.
The following tests are necessary for you in order to check your health condition: 1. Electrocardiogram, to rule out cardiac problems. 2. Complete blood count. 3. Urine test.
Contact your general and family physician.
All the best. Dr. Behar.
