Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Your lipid levels are borderline high.
Optimal/Desirable
Total cholesterol should be less than 200 mg/dl, optimal
LDL cholesterol should be less than 100 mg/dl if patient has
diabetes or
stroke or
heart attack (some guidelines lower this value even further and mention it as 70 mg/dl), Optimal Triglycerides should be less than 150 mg/dl. The good cholesterol which is the
HDL cholesterol should be at least 40 and above for males.
I am not sure whether you have diabetes or any stroke/heart attack in the past. Further, I do not know if you are on any cholesterol lowering medication.
If you do not have any risk factors like diabetes, heart attack, stroke, lipid are reasonable, though they could be improved. If you have any risk factors mentioned then it is better if you can get your lipid values to the optimal range.
To get your lipid values to optimal range, you need reduce the amount of total fat and
saturated fat consumed. Saturated fats are fats derived from animal like cheese, butter etc. Also you need to exercise at least 45 min-60 min everyday - like brisk walking, jogging, swimming etc. Exercise improves your HDL cholesterol.
I hope this answer has been helpful to you.
