What Does The Blood Report With HDL:56.56 Indicate?

Hi, I am a 45 Years old Male, (height 5 8 , weight 83 kgs), from India. Recently i got my lipid profile test done at some camp conducted by Thyrocare Labs , which is quite renowned company in india. Actually I gave my blood sample within 45 minutes after having morning sweet tea with bread-butter slice and some biscuits. I got the report as follows: Total Cholestrol: 338 HDL:56.56 Triglicyrides:800 LDL:182.5 VLDL:160 The results gave me a big shock and has put me in the anxiety and depressed state esp because of very high Tg. Though i exercise a lot, work out thrice a week mainly cardiac exercise, do jogging on treadmil for 20 to 30 min with an average speed of 8 kms per hour comfortably.. I am also suffering from Hypochondriasis since last 7 years and on medication as follows: Sertraline 100mg twice daily: Alprozolom 0.25 mg twice daily Ativan 1mg once at bed time Telsartan 20mg once daily (for mild hypertension) Bisoprolol Fumarate 2.5 mg once daily (for palpitation) My question to you is 1) Can these result vary too much or upto what extent if done with 10-12 hours fasting?? 2) Are the values in the above results technically co-related in terms of numbers??, 3) can any of my present medication has the side effect of increasing bad fats in my blood?? Thanks and Awaiting your expert advice....Rajeev

Your test results are invalid because you have eaten before giving your blood sample. lipid profile requires strict fasting of 10-12 hours, only then the sample should be taken.
It is true that total cholesterol and HDL values are not affected by fasting. In your case, still your total cholesterol is too high (* bad for you) whereas HDL levels are slghtly higher( HDL is good cholesterol - so this is good for you).
Since these two dont add up, I would advise you to get yourself retested after proper fasting.
This current report is invalid and ideally blood sample should not have been taken.
