Hello and thank you for using HCM.I carefully read your question and I understand your concern. I will try to explain you something and give you my opinion.
High cholesterol it is not directly related to periferic edema (swelling).
You should know that high cholesterol is considered a coronary risc factors. This means that people whith high cholesterol are at high risc to have lipid accumulation in coronary arteries and blockage that might couse an infarct.
If the heart has an
infarction and her total function might be reduced, than it might be possible that this insufficient heart can cause edema.
But only high cholesterol whith nkrmal heart function does not couse edema.
Perifery edema might happen from different reanson and pathologyes like heart problems,
liver problems, vascular problems ect.
So, in my opinion you should make some other examination like a cardiac echo to evaluate heart function and valves, an abdominal echo to evaluate abdominal echo and a doppler periferic echo.
After all this we can better understand what is the problem and how to treat it.
Hope I was helpfull.
Best regards
