What Does Severe Stomach Pain And Vomiting Indicate?

New Year's Eve I had a feeling of fullness in the stomach, lots of gas (burping), I normally burp a lot even if I don't eat, vomiting 6-7 times, severe pain at the stomach and all around to the back, I could not lay on my right side. I never had an attack like this before. No diarrhea.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lot of gas, burping, fullness in stomach and vomiting along with pain in the stomach might be related to gastritis or peptic ulcer due to stomach hyperacidity. I would advise you to take antiacidity like pantoprazole or ranitidine group of drugs with antacids for 5 to 7 days and domperidone or ondansatron for vomiting. Meanwhile you should take lots of fluids to maintain good hydration and balance the fluid lost in vomiting.

Pain in the neck/throat might be related to irritation and inflammation due to heavy vomiting. You should do warm saline gargling for its relief. You should avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food as well as smoking and drinking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. B R Hudda
