What Does High FBS, High Globulin, High Anion Gap, MDRD Formula And CKD EPI Formula Over 60 Indicate?

I recently received the results of my lab work. I have an FBS of 104.00 (high), globulin 3.40 (high) and anion gap 17.50 (high), glomerural filtration rate MDRD formula over 60 and CKD EPI formula over 60 . I am 55 years old, weigh 152 pounds, non smoker, never drink alcohol, post menopausic. I take Crestor, Trilipix (hate both medications, give me pain and gas), metformin 500 twice a day (my HB A1C is 6.%) and Ramipril 2.5 twice a day. I exercise as often as I can although I just survived Christmas vacation. What does this results mean? My appointment with my doctor in on Monday and she doesn t explain much sometimes. Should I be concerned?

Hi
Your FBS is well within normal range and the HbA1c indicates that diabetes is well controlled. However the GFR is reduced which needs to be evaluated further as it signifies early kidney dysfunction could be due to diabetic or hypertensive nephropathy. High anion gap is of concern, as that might lead to acidosis. Do consult your doctor for impaired renal function.
