What Does Acute Small Non-hemorrhagic Infarct, Right Internal Capsule Mean?
Dr... my husband age 61 yrs old, 5 5 height and feels dizzy for almost a week. He undergo Computerized Tomography Scan and the impression is acute small non-hemorrhagic infarct, right internal capsule. Please explain the said impression for me. Thanks

The right internal capsule is a critical intersection of nerves in the brain where motor functions are passed to other locations in the body. Think of it as a very busy intersection in a city. An infarct, or stroke in this area is usually caused by high blood pressure and this does need to be looked into by your physician and controlled tightly.
A stroke in this area can result in arm or leg weakness on the opposite side of the body. So in the case of your husband I would expect some LEFT sided arm or leg weakness. There is some sensory nerves which pass through here as well so he may so degree of numbness in the LEFT arm or leg region as well.
