What Do Results Of PT, INR, And APTT Test Mean?

Hi,
This is Salman Sheikh here. My father is taking lowplat plus 75 mg for last 4 days suggested by Heart Physician due to high cholestrol and minor stroke of ischemia ( found by M.R.I). My father has been taking loprin tablet for a long time but 4 days back doctor suggested LOWPLAT PLUS. Yesterday he had a lot of blood passed during stool. I took my father for emergency treatment to near by hospital. The doctor suggested test of PT, APTT, and INR. We given test at same time.
Now I got the reports of PT,APTT, INR. My father is 60 years old.
According to this report PT is 10.4 seconds, INR 0.99, and APTT 28.4 seconds.

I am very much confused and looking for results of this test, suddenly I found you.
I hope that you will better understand this and solve my issue.
Thanks & Regards.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
PT, aPTT and INR are coagulation tests,
These tests are done to assess the status of coagulation factors and coagulation pathway.
The normal range for PT is 14-18 sec, aPTT is between 27-33 sec and for INR is 1.
All the parameters are within normal limits.
A PT of 10 sec is of no consequence.
An increased PT is of concern.
These results also suggest that your medication is also working well.

Thanks and take care
