What Diet Should Be Followed When Suffering From Ischemic Collitis?

3 weeks ago I had sever spasms , diarrhea and vomiting, next day I went to the emergency room. By catscan , bloodtests and next day colonoscopy the diagnose was ischemic collitis I did loose blood and felt very weak and now still I feel lack of energy. I am lactose intolerant use almond milk. Am I suppose to be on a special diet? How do I know if I can eat bread? When will I get back normal? My doctor put me on a statin and two baby aspirin a day. I am 80 years old. susannepalagy

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
There is no specific diet for ischemic colitis.
You need to continue taking statin and baby aspirin.
You can consider taking low fat diet.
Check your hemoglobin level. If it is very low, you may need blood transfusion and may need to take hematinics.
I hope that answers your question.
Regards,
Dr.Ratnakar
