What Could Passing Of Bloody Clot Days After An Abortion Indicate?

Hi there, I had a medical abortion 13 days ago. As i was advised as the days went by the bleeding would get lighter and lighter which it has done. I was told only to worry if it got heavier after the first two days. Today I woke up and went to the toilet and passed a medium sized clot. Is this normal or could there be a problem/infection?

Hi there,
It is possible to get a heavy bleeding after an abortion but if it occurs after the bleeding has stopped and has passage of clots then you should be concerned. Do get an ultrasound scan done and rule out infection with a blood test. Better to see a Gynaecologist immediately for the same.
Some women require a surgical curettage if the bleeding persists.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
