What Could Be The Cause Of Spot Bleeding After A Week Of Her Period?
My girlfriend and i had unprotected sex 2 weeks ago. It was right after she got off her period. The next day she took the next step pill. Its been 1 week since she took the pill and she is starting to have some bleeding. More than just spotting though. What do you think is the cause?
Usually ovulation is not expected around the 6th to 7th day of the menstrual cycle. And also as she has taken the emergency contraceptive pill the possibility of pregnancy is less. According to your history the possible causes are: - After taking the emergency contraceptive pill because of the high dose of hormone in it, it can lead to the withdrawal bleeding by acting on the endometrium. - Sometimes inter-menstrual spotting can be seen during the period of ovulation.
If it is because of the emergency contraceptive pill, the spotting may turn into regular bleeding and her next period should be counted by taking this as the last menstrual period. If you want to rule out the possibility of pregnancy, please let her go for a blood test for pregnancy 3 weeks after unprotected intercourse.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
