What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After 1 Year Of Menopause?

I am 52 and haven't had a a period for over a year and a half. Today I am bleeding (red blood not dark) have stomach cramps and constipation. My doctor told me a couple of years ago that if I had a period after not having one for more than a year it may be cause for concern. Could it be cancer?
