What Causes Bleeding Post Menopause?

Post menopausal age 58 with recent ultrasound results for vaginal bleeding. AP endometrial thickness of 10 mm. No increased flow. In the lower uterine segment there are several small echogenic non-shielding foci within the endometrial canal. What can cause this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
The findings are suggestive of endometrial polyps.
Uterine polyps are growths attached to the inner wall of the uterus that extend into the uterine cavity. Overgrowth of cells in the lining of the uterus (endometrium) leads to the formation of uterine polyps, also known as endometrial polyps. These polyps are usually noncancerous (benign), although some can be cancerous or can eventually turn into cancer (precancerous polyps). Since, post menopausal bleeding needs to be properly evaluated hence these polyps need to be biopsied to rule out cancerous growths.
Hope this answers your query.
