What Causes Stomach Upset During Pregnancy?
I m nine weeks pregnant. I ve had atleast one miscarriage in the past, and have polycystic ovarian syndrom. I have had occasional spotting and cramping, but ultrasounds show a healthy nine week old fetus with a 177 heart rate (hoping for a girl). Anyway, in the last week I ve been getting an upset stomach throughout the day, that turns fairly painful when ever I sit down and flex my muscles to urinate or defecate (which is often). Is this normal?

Heartiest congratulations for your pregnancy.
Usually, during pregnancy, the movements of stomach and intestines do slow down due to the effect of increasing progesterone hormone and also due to increasing size of the uterus. This does lead to stomach upset during pregnancy.
However, you are having pain in abdomen. Pregnancy related gastric upset is painless. Particularly your defecation is painful. This suggests some intestinal infestation - amoebiasis or worms.
Please get your stools examined from the pathology laboratory. After an overnight purge, leave the first stools sample and collect the last portion of second sample for examination.
Since some of the medicines used for amoebiasis and/or worms are contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation, please take the advice of your obstetrician before taking any medicines.
