What Causes Stomach Cramping And Excess Saliva In Mouth?

I have a strange question thats been happening to me ever since i was a teen. When i take aspirin a few hours or right before bed for say i have a head ache or whatever. Later in the night i wake up with my stomach feeling cramped and then i start to salivate excessively for like 2 minutes. Like a faucet turned on in my mouth. This only happens when i take aspirin, anything else it doesnt happen. Should i be concerned? Im 27 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for this query.

Aspirin can causes gastritis. It is therefore not surprising that you may wake up in the middle of the night and report these symptoms. I will recommend that you do not take aspirin for headaches and rather try Tylenol as it is more stomach friendly. There is no reason to get concerned now but shifting away from aspirin is highly recommended.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
