What Causes Sore Throat And Fever?

Hi, my 3 year old was off nursery last week with a sore throat and lack of energy, not earing or drinking for 6 days, then she went back on Friday and was fine over the weekend. Yesterday she stated getting tired and lack off energy with a temperature of 39. Since then she has been having calpol but the temperature is still 38.5 underarm. She will not eat or drink and hasn't since Sunday.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. Fever and sore throat is very common at this age. The most common diagnosis is a viral illness, in which case it will resolve on its own. All that is needed is fluids and rest. However, this could be bacterial, in which case it will require antibiotic in order to resolve. I recommend consulting your doctor so the correct diagnosis can be made and the appropriate treatment plan implemented.
