My son, 11 months old is getting fever on and off for past 5 days. initial 3 days, fever would go upto 103. Last two days, it is going upto 101 or so. After Calpol, it comes down.

There is no vomitting. There is cold and nose is blocked.

What medication and home care would you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Common cold

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query.

This seems a common cold. Its a viral infection and will come down on its own. Antibiotics are not needed.

I prescribe the following medicines for children with cold:

- Syrup cetirizine 1.5 ml 1-2 times a day for runny nose
- Syrup Calpol for fever

Alongwith I also suggest Syrup Dabur Honitus half to 1 tsp 2 times a day.
For blocked nose, cetrizine should be enough. Alongwith warm fluids will help for blocked nose.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
