What Causes Rapid Heart Rate?

My heart rate when laying down is like 68 beats per minute. Then as soon as i stand up its over 100 and i have a funny feeling in my chest, almost like i can feeling beating that fast. I m so scared. Is this a bad sign? Im a 24 yr old female, i dont smoke or drink or exercise because im afraid to exercise with that high of a heart rate. Also, people are telling me your heart only beats like 3 billion beats in your lifetime....so now im afraid im going to die when im like 40.

Hi,

I would explain that your symptoms could be related to postural tachycardia syndrome.

For this reason, I would recommend performing a Head Up Tilt test coupled with some blood lab tests (complete blood count for anemia, thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction, blood electrolytes for possible imbalances).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
