What Causes Patches At The Back Of The Throat With Pain?

About 6 or 7 weeks ago my boyfriend had strep throat.. I thought I got it, but didn t have health insurance to see a doctor. All the symptoms went away except having a sore throat. I have patches in the back of my throat and my throat has been hurting for 6 or 7 weeks. Could this be something I should worry about? I have a wisdom tooth coming in that hurts really bad, don t know if they are related

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of a strep infection. For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your GP for physical exam and performing a throat discharge bacterial culture for strep infection. Some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR, ASO titer) are also needed. Starting antibiotics may be necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
