Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Rib Cage Extending To The Back Of The Spine?
I have been having extreme pain in the left side of my abdomen like under my rib cage and extends to the ribs and back near my spine. at first I thought it could be a kidney infections and started with water and cranberry juice but the pain seems to be getting worse.
I am so sorry to hear about these pains and the recent worsening. There are a number of different structures in this area that can provoke pain extending to the back. They include the stomach, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, liver, etc. It would be best to get evaluated for the exact cause of this pain to be identified and treated through a thorough physical examination and investigations if need be. The recent worsening means we cannot go on trying just any treatment unless we pinpoint the exact cause and address it fully. Your primary health care doctor would be able to address this and make referrals should need be.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for clarification and more information if need be. Thanks for using our services. Dr. Ditah, MD.
