Can Patient With Severe Pancreatitis Be Given Flozen, Rabe And Lilzoline?

Hi, would like to know if patient with current history of severe pancreatitis should be given Flozen, Rabe and Lilzoline to alleviate pancreatic inflammation? Patient is 62 yrs old with other hx of basal pneumonitis, by-pass sugery(1997) and diabetes and hypertension. Currently discharged and on other added medications for the above mentioned clinical findings? The left side of the stomach, possibly the area where the pancreas is situated has hardened on the first day of the medication prescribed. Thanks alot.

Hi,

Flozen contains serratiopeptidase which is used to treat pain and inflammation or swelling in some health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, migraine, carpal tunnel syndrome, crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, swelling post surgery, heart disorders etc. It can be used safely and effectively in patients with pancreatitis.

Rabe contains rabeprazole that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is used for treating acid related diseases of the stomach and intestines like acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease and some other stomach conditions associated with excessive acid production. It has no harmful effects on pancreas, so it can be used in patients with pancreatitis.

Linezolid belongs to the group of antibacterial medications known as oxazolidinones is used to treat infections like community acquired pneumonia, nosocomial pneumonia, infections of the skin etc. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Study has shown that Linezolid is distributed satisfactorily to the pancreas at levels higher than MICs (Minimal Inhibitory Concentration) for common Gram positive bacteria, including MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococus Aureus). Hence, Linezolid is useful in treating such infections of the pancreas.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
